Research summary
Tirzepatide has been studied in a large programme of published clinical trials in type 2 diabetes and obesity, and it is approved as a medicine in some regions under licensed brand-name products. Our research-grade material is a separate product and is not a medicine. This summary describes what the literature has investigated. It is not a claim about the effects of our product, which is supplied for laboratory research only.
Mechanism of action
Tirzepatide is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide with a fatty diacid side chain that acts as a dual agonist at the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor. Both receptors are involved in insulin secretion and appetite regulation.
Chemical properties
Class: synthetic 39-residue peptide with a C20 fatty diacid modification, dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist. Form: lyophilised powder. Exact sequence, molecular weight, purity and identity: see the batch Certificate of Analysis (HPLC and mass spectrometry).
Storage and handling
Supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder. Store sealed, cold, dry and protected from light, as stated on the Certificate of Analysis and product label. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation. Avoid repeated temperature cycling and humidity exposure. For laboratory research use only.
