Founded at the crossroads of science and the Alps
Zürich BioGenix was established in 1998 by a team of biochemists and pharmacologists based at the University of Zürich, during a period when solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) was transitioning from academic laboratories into a commercially viable discipline.
The founding vision was clear: build a vertically integrated peptide synthesis company rooted in Swiss scientific culture — one that would meet the exacting standards demanded by pharmaceutical researchers, academic institutions, and independent laboratories worldwide. Zürich's unique concentration of biomedical talent, combined with Switzerland's world-class regulatory infrastructure, made it the natural home for that ambition.
The name is no coincidence. A Swiss life sciences entity bearing a kindred name — formerly operating from Christoph Merian-Ring 29a, 4153 Reinach, Switzerland — laid the groundwork: years of pharmaceutical trade, European networks, and regulatory experience. When that chapter closed, the knowledge did not disappear. Zürich BioGenix was built to carry it forward: same scientific heritage, 21st-century technology, new ambitions.
