Melanotan-2 (MT-II) is a cyclic lactam analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that binds to melanocortin receptors MC1R, MC3R, and MC4R. It has been studied in the context of skin pigmentation, appetite regulation, and CNS-mediated physiological effects. As a centrally acting melanocortin agonist, it shares receptor affinity with PT-141 at the MC4R subtype.
