Research summary
Cagrilintide has been evaluated in published clinical trials in adults with overweight or obesity, both alone and in combination with semaglutide, with outcomes reported as changes in body weight and gastrointestinal tolerability. Reviews also describe its pharmacology as a long-acting amylin analogue. This summary describes what the literature has investigated. It is not a claim about the effects of our product, which is supplied for laboratory research only.
Mechanism of action
Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analogue of amylin, a pancreatic hormone co-secreted with insulin. It acts as an agonist at amylin and calcitonin receptors, which are involved in appetite and satiety signalling. It has been studied in clinical trials, alone and combined with a GLP-1 receptor agonist, but is not an approved medicine on its own.
Chemical properties
Class: synthetic lipidated amylin analogue (peptide). Form: lyophilised powder. Exact sequence, molecular weight, purity and identity: see the batch Certificate of Analysis (HPLC and mass spectrometry).
Storage and handling
Supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder. Store sealed, cold, dry and protected from light, as stated on the Certificate of Analysis and product label. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation. Avoid repeated temperature cycling and humidity exposure. For laboratory research use only.
