Research summary
Most published studies on BPC-157 are preclinical. Rodent models have been used to investigate tendon, ligament, muscle and gastrointestinal tissue responses, and cell studies have looked at fibroblast migration and blood vessel formation. Human clinical evidence is sparse, and BPC-157 is not an approved medicine. This summary describes what the literature has investigated. It is not a claim about the effects of our product, which is supplied for laboratory research only.
Mechanism of action
BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) whose sequence is derived from a protein fragment first isolated from human gastric juice. In published preclinical work, mostly in rodent and cell models, researchers have examined its interaction with angiogenic signalling (including VEGF receptor 2 expression), the nitric oxide system, and cytoskeletal and migration pathways in fibroblasts. The exact molecular target has not been fully defined, and human data are very limited.
