Research summary
Retatrutide has been evaluated in published phase 2 clinical trials in adults with obesity and with type 2 diabetes, with reports of changes in body weight, glycaemic markers and gastrointestinal adverse events. Later-phase trials are ongoing and it is not an approved medicine. This summary describes what the literature has investigated. It is not a claim about the effects of our product, which is supplied for laboratory research only.
Mechanism of action
Retatrutide (LY3437943) is a synthetic peptide agonist that acts on three receptors: the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the glucagon receptor. These receptors are involved in appetite regulation, insulin secretion and hepatic and energy metabolism.
Chemical properties
Class: synthetic fatty-acid-modified peptide, triple GIP/GLP-1/glucagon receptor agonist. Form: lyophilised powder. Exact sequence, molecular weight, purity and identity: see the batch Certificate of Analysis (HPLC and mass spectrometry).
Storage and handling
Supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder. Store sealed, cold, dry and protected from light, as stated on the Certificate of Analysis and product label. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation. Avoid repeated temperature cycling and humidity exposure. For laboratory research use only.
